Congratulations to Michelle Fajilago  It is with great pleasure to announce that Michelle Fajilago has been recognized by Women of Color magazine as a Rising Star in Technology. This venerable award is given once a year to women early in their careers who have achieved outstanding results in the technology field. As a recipient of this award, Michelle is recognized for her many achievements as a lead IT Specialist at IBM. During her career in software development, Michelle has been a lead developer on many IT projects within her group. Her contributions to the design in the global per diem engine, among other things, have played a crucial role to the content of our current and future offerings to clients; this client list counts among its ranks such Fortune 500 companies as Bank of America, American Express, and IBM as well.

Outstanding Romblomanons, reported to RDL by Rinzi Fadrilan, March 23, 2009. The awards ceremony for the first Most Outstanding Romblomanons Awards was held during the 108th founding anniversary of the Province of Romblon on March 16, 2009 at the Palacio de Manila in Malate. (Visit: http://www.romblonprov.gov.ph/News). There were three sets of awardees- the living awardees, posthumous awardees, and special awardees. The living awardees: Rev. Jose Falogme Jr., for spiritual ddvocacy; Hipolito Berano, cultural advocacy; Maria Linda G. Buhat, RN and Abraham Fabicon, education; and Rolando Montiel, government service.

IN RETROSPECT

 “He who does not look back cannot reach his destination,” a saying to this effect commonly suggests.
“Don’t look back,” but she did, and “she was turned into a pillar of salt.” The first one is subject to individual interpretation; the second is a subject with biblical impression--believe it or not--is the sole explanation. My objective is not to inject confusion, but simply to cite instances with the words look back as a point of presentation. Fast-rewind to my formative years in the beautiful Island of Simara, I have had a reservoir of experiences worthy of looking back or recollection. As a kid, I enjoyed the convenience of life having a residence strategically situated in the Poblacion. Goods, services, and leisure, among other necessities of life, were with comfortable ease within my reach. Modesty aside, not all kids in our place even today can relate with my experiences. I cannot help, but repeat to say, I really miss those days a lot.

MONUMENT IN THE MAKING

Human life is full of adventure and mystique. It is far more than a rainbow when it comes to colors. From the very moment a breath of life commences, a drawing on the canvas for that life, likewise, begins. Every line counts, and every color matters for these are what will bring to light the final picture of that life. Whether or not it will be positively colorful depends on the events along the way. In our journey, all of us have common experiences. We travel on plain roads, hilly terrains, and rugged mountains; cross calm waters, breezy seas, and turbulent oceans; enjoy viewing the sunrise on top of a historic hill, gazing at luminous stars on warm starry nights, and observing the sunset on a clear horizon; feeling the cold, windy nights; sharing with the joy of summer days; touching the morning dew; smelling the fragrance of the meadow; and, so much more. Undoubtedly, within our common experiences shelters inherent difference. This fact can be discerned primarily on the quality, environment, time, significance, and other factors.

Joriven, while valedictorian and engineer, did not meet the required minimum qualification. CSC requires at least 3 years in the assessment field.
