milambring"s corner
-----------------------

in not even one month after the inauguration, it appears that the comment of a certain "ch-cha" on the ShoutBox is too soon; the same may generate various interpretations, but, to me, it means the expectation is high on our current local administration especially to the mayor;

moreover, a certain "guest_7505" has knowledge of the mayor's networking efforts; this is a positive sign also...
----

our information is that the mayor has been following up the release of ten million pesos from the department of agriculture for the completion of the portion of the road linking sitio yuong in barangay ilijan to barangay labnig, and the continuation of the road in barangay ambulong to historic tanro-aw hill and forward to sitio bantadan...

maado ra kaling farm to market roads, laloey kung maramong products nak ahakuton sa market ka ato mga kapwa simaranhon;

Too much expectation, too early!!

We will see kung mayroon silang accomplishment. In the meantime, I think the mayor is doing her best efforts by networking with other helpful citizens to help Simara. We should all wish and help her to succeed.

All your comments are welcome here.

Squarely SOMA….

If the President has the traditional SONA – State of the Nation Address, would it not be beneficial if our local officials headed by the Mayor render SOMA – State of the Municipality Assessment? This SOMA,in my view, is timely taking into account the fact that we have recently inaugurated officials with popular expectation of delivering unparalleled performance for the progress of SIMARA and, of course, well-being of fellow Simaranhons.

This suggested assessment has for its coverage the major aspects of life in SIMARA as in:

1. Agriculture
a. Farming
b. Fishing
c. Ecosystem

2. Education
a. Schools
b. Enrollment
c. Out-of-School children

3. Health Services
a. Hospital
b. Clinics

4. Transportation
a. Land
b. Sea

5. Communications
a. Cell sites
b. Landlines
c. Wireless

6. Infrastructure
a. Pier(s)
b. Roads
c. Government buildings

7. Government Offices in Simara
a. National
b. Provincial
c. Municipal

8. Facilities
a. Electricity
b. Water

9. Peace and Order Situation

10. Organizations
a. NGOs
b. Cooperatives

11. Sources of Income

12. Other aspects
a. historical legacy
b. your input ...

The data from these various items will serve as bench mark for the new administration.

Any incremental accomplishment will serve as input for another SOMA – Simara Officials' Meaningful Accomplishment. Regarding Information dissemination concerning the activities of the Municipal Government, a newspaper-type tool is, in my view, not necessary for Simarnhons living in Simara; they have their own way, no expense involved, of knowing what the government is, or is not doing.

Besides, what will be the interval per issue? How thick/thin each issue do you think will be?
Well, there is no other way to measure it than by actually doing it, if our local government is really into it.

For Simaranhons living outside of Simara and also those who are in Simara, and are interested online, I suggest that the Simara website be adopted by the Municipal Government as its Official Website. It carries the name of our island-municipality; this is, of course, if the website owner, JOEY FAJILAGO, allows it.

Advantages are:

a. The Municipal Government can include in its budget the expenses for this site.
b. The site administrator, ATET FAJARILLO, is there, near you; coordination will be easier and results faster, hopefully.
c. The possibility of gaining greater participation/readership is inspiring.
d. In the absence of a Municipal Information Officer, the Office of the Municipal Planning & Development Coordinator (MPDC) can handle the day-to-day management of this site.
e. and, more….

It will be helpful also if all heads of department/office in SIMARA will create their respective e-mail addresses and use the same beneficially.

To be continued….
