I hope our LGU would consider the development of a Wind Farm in Simara. It's one of the most practical solution that I can think of so as our kasimanwas could experience 24 hour electricity in the island. The average windspeed in Simara is at around 15.6 miles per hour at 40 m tower height (best is above 13 to 14 mph that makes ours qualified), It'll be best to place the farm maybe in Tanruaw or Alegria.
Let's talk about the cost. For a 1 megawatt farm that should serve 320 households, (were talking here about average users which would mean the figure should increase considering the usage in Simara), it should cost around Php 40 million. That's expensive I know, but that's jus the initial cost anyway. Wind is free remember. I would surmise that it would need a 3 megawatt farm in Simara. That's a Php 120 million investment and would require great pains for our LGU so as to secure a grant for it or so but still I believe it's worth it.
If we could all work together to look for funding for this, it's not impossible. What do you think guys?
